There is no way around it, Brad Richards has struggled mightily this season. Richards seems as though he has lost a step, and his better days may be behind him. This week he started proving the naysayers wrong by being named the #2 star of the week in the entire NHL.
This four game span saw Richards score 4 goals, and 3 assists (April 15- April 21). It was in one of those games against the Buffalo Sabres where Brad Richards scored his first ever hat trick in his 12 year career. If he is beginning to find his game, which it seems like he may be, it would be perfect timing for a Rangers team that seems to be surging just in time for a playoff run.
He is a seasoned vet who is a consummate professional on and off the ice. Richards is a mentor to many of the younger, less experienced players on this Rangers team. His renewed sense of confidence seems to have trickled down throughout the entire line-up, as the entire team seems to have hit their stride. This is a player the Rangers will need to have on his game come playoff time, they frankly can’t win it all unless he is contributing.
